About the Author
" The Guide " this beautiful fictional novel was penned down by very famous Indian novelist " Rasipuram Krishna Swami Iyer Narayanswami" . He was one of the best known novelists among Indian English writers. He is the author of fourteen novels , five volumes of short stories, and a number of travelogues and has a collection of non-fiction to h id credit. He also wrote his memoir "My Days" (1975) . Narayan was introduced to American readers in 1952 by the Michign stae university press. These includes " Swami And Friends", " The Bachelor Of Arts "(1937), " The Dark Room "(1938), " An Astrologers Day" and other stories (1947) " Mr. sampath "(1949), " The Financial Expert"(1954), " Wating For The Mahatma"(1955) and may other books.

“ Swami and Friends” this fantastic novel was set before the independence when India was under the rule of British government . This novel follows a story of protagonist ( Swami ) who is a very mischievous kid . Through this novel author has beautifully described the circumstances of India before getting independence , how Indian local minorities being suffered for accomplishing their basic needs like food , shelter and clothing . In this book author have showed very beautifully how Britishers used to harrras Indians , even in school they were forcing Hindu students to follow Christianism . Though story of this book roams around the life of naughty kid but themes of these book also contain patriotism , nationalism , confidence , along with main theme friendship and naughtiness of a kid . Through this book author had gave birth to a very famous fictious town , “ Malgudi” . Through this book author typically portrays the peculiarities of human relationship and the ironies of Indian daily life .
